M-81

© 2017 Klaus Brasch

I finally managed to collect enough individual exposures of one of my favorite galaxies, M-81 taken exclusively with my C-14 HD at f/7.5. This is a composite of about 12 x 5 minute frames at ISO 3200-6400 with my modified Canon 6D and IDAS LPS-V4 filter, stacked in Registar and processed in Photoshop CS-6.

Down in Sedona a photo like this would be titled "Mothership Over the Peaks".

The Orion Region

© 2017 Klaus Brasch

Last night Kwang, Jeff and I ventured to Wupatki and enjoyed some of the darkest most transparent skies in a long while. The Moon, Venus and Mars were dazzling, almost like light 'pollution' because of the clarity. I shot them with a 200 mm telephoto. After moonset we saw incredibly detailed winter Milky Way and of course ever-dominant Orion. I shot it with a 40 mm wide angle lens and the Canon 6D. Great night!.
